Basic RiderCourse 2-License Waiver

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic RiderCourse 2-License Waiver (BRC2-License Waiver) is a unique riding curriculum offered through the New York State Motorcycle Safety Program (NYSMSP) and qualifies as a New York DMV License Testing Waiver.

Even if you’ve been riding for some time, there’s always something new to learn. Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to the one day Basic RiderCourse 2 to hone their skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed for survival in traffic.

  • One day course – 4-hour eCourse, 3 hours classroom, 5 hours range
  • Use your own motorcycle and helmet
  • Qualifies graduates for insurance premium discounts with some motorcycle insurers
  • Provides a New York DMV Road Test Waiver
Before you schedule your Basic RiderCourse 2 license waiver, you must have a motorcycle learner permit issued by the NY DMV. We also recommend that you have at least 30 hours of practice on a motorcycle, with or without formal instruction. We also recommend that you have at least 10 hours of practice in medium to high volume traffic.
 
The Basic RiderCourse 2 license waiver also covers, in the two-hour eCourse, protective gear, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care, the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding, and includes a skill evaluation.
 
Using your own motorcycle, unless you make arrangements with the location beforehand, you’ll put into practice the techniques of managing traction, stopping quickly, cornering and swerving. Find a RiderCourse near you.
